Ruth Garner, Director

worked happily in the NHS for 24 years as a qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist (practitioner, senior manager and advisor) specialising in the treatment of traumatic brain injury, burns and general traumatology and, later, within forensic psychiatry.

Ruth started her online MSc. in September 1996 at Greenwich University. She was so enthused about this method of studying that she started to explore opportunities within her work and was lucky enough to be involved in an early eLearning programme with partners across the City of Birmingham, delivering a prevocational programme (ESF) to adults with physical disabilities and mental ill-health.  As a result Ruth decided to leave the NHS and thus Learn Net Advisors & Research was born.

Ruth says…. ‘We have been lucky enough to see many technology changes and developments over the past 12 years and there has never been a dull moment!’  Our customers come from a wide range of organisations and include higher education, adult education, further education, schools, charitable organisations, local authorities, private businesses and professional bodies.

Ruth has been a member of the CeLTT team (Certificated Learning through Transformative Technologies) for many years at Greenwich University, as an online tutor working with teachers, trainers and others wishing to develop their curriculum and deliver online.  She is the Chair of the Birmingham eLearning Foundation (BeLF) which has delivered over 35,000 personal learning devices over the past 4 years to pupils in Birmingham, thus helping to close the digital divide.  She is also the Chair of Governors at Moor Green Primary School in Moseley.

Frank Garner, Director

Frank Garner, Director, is a teacher and trainer with many years of experience with adults and children. He has delivered in the classroom within schools and industry, as well as online, and has a significant role in supporting elearners to get started.  He is a linguist and has, in our history, developed multi-lingual sites in European languages finding that the online tools for translation are still not reliable in getting the meaning of a message right.   Both Ruth and Frank enjoy the freedom that eTutoring provides.
