What
is a Virtual Conference?
A
Virtual
Conference is accessed through the Internet. It is a very effective way
of gathering together people who have the skills, knowledge
and experience in the conference subject. Irrespective of
geographical location, delegates and presenters are able to
meet with each other and share experiences and knowledge in a
non-threatening environment, without leaving their
home or place of work. In this type of Conference
there can be some very amusing times, as well as interesting
ideas emerging, – all of which
delegates can look back on because the transcripts of
discussions were archived and made available on the Conference
website.
Advantages of a Virtual Conference include:
-
not having to travel,
-
affordable: delegates are not required
to travel to a geographical location or seek accommodation.
-
all papers are available for all
delegates to read prior to the conference,
-
all sessions are interactive as delegates
have prior knowledge of the paper. Authors respond to
questions rather than spend time presenting the paper,
-
transcripts of sessions are archived so
that all delegates and presenters can review what was said
in the sessions they attended and in sessions they were
unable to attend,
-
Greater access to key note
speakers,
-
Social area where delegates
‘network’ with old friends and make new and important
contacts.
